Welcome 6 year old 50lb velveteen hippo Hazel to the family. This American Bully girl joined us in October as a medical foster care dog. We pulled her from the NYACC, where she was found as a stray. Unfortunately, she was found with open wounds and abscesses on her neck and body. Due to the severity and nature of her condition, she need to wait 6 months to recover. Now, she is available for adoption!
Hazel is the life of the party! Anywhere she goes, people just adore this hippo piglet. Sadly, it is clear that in her former life, she was bred and discarded. However, This girl is always smiling and ready for a great time! Hazel gets along with other dogs and LOVES people! However, if eating her meal near other dogs, she should be supervised or eat in a separate room/crate. Anyone Hazel meets will be captivated by her charm, snorts, and wiggles. Hazel will redefine what it means to be resilient!
Hazel would love a home with a yard to play in. Right now and in the future, walking for long periods of time outside is too much for her and she blisters her chunky paws. During her time with us, she regained her health and physical wellness with the best of care!
Those that are interested in Hazel should know she has some minor medical considerations. She can have acid reflux and eats with a slow feeder bowl. Also, she benefits from an anti-acid. Also, her short stature and breed causes her to have an uneven gait. She walks a little lopsided. This is why she can blister her paws or occasionally has a limp.
