Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo pleads guilty to killing his girlfriend’s dog by breaking its neck and using the dead canine to beat her.
A Georgia man pleaded guilty to beating his girlfriend with her dead pet dog, which he killed minutes beforehand.
Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo, 28, pled guilty in court Thursday morning to four charges: Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Animal Cruelty, Animal Cruelty and Battery. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shawn LaGrua accepted his plea and will sentence the defendant after his upcoming psychological evaluation.
The incident occurred on May 19. Tadeo flew into a rage after receiving an upsetting phone call in his girlfriend Andrea Jill Armintrout’s Sandy Springs, Ga., apartment. Tadeo – who has a history of abusing his girlfriend – kicked and hit her as she trembled in fear on the ground.
When her pet Pomeranian Murphy rushed to her aid, Tadeo stomped on it, kicked it and threw it across the room. The woman pleaded with Tadeo to let her bring her clearly injured dog to a veterinarian, but he didn’t allow it.
Instead, Tadeo brought the dog outside and killed the dog by breaking its neck. He told his girlfriend that he was putting the Pomeranian “out of its misery,” according to a press release from the Fulton County District Attorney.
When he returned indoors, Tadeo beat the woman with the deceased dog. After she escaped, the woman reported the attack to the police. Authorities say that Tadeo was drinking heavily that night.
This incident is “probably one of the worst cases of animal cruelty that we’ve ever seen,” Sandy Springs police Capt. Steve Rose told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
After she allegedly stopped cooperating with police, Andrea Jill Armintrout, the victim, was arrested and charged with obstruction. But she posted her $500 bond and was released on July 13.
Tadeo, on the other hand, may serve 20 years in prison for aggravated assault and five years for animal cruelty.
