***ADOPTER OR FOSTER NEEDED***
Cocoa is one of the most special dogs we have ever rescued. Not only was she our first big rescue, but everyone that meets her is simply smittin! She earns raving reviews everywhere she goes and stays. Cocoa is about 4 years old and 50 lbs. She gets along with every dog she meets and is a total hit in doggy day care! The staff at the boarding facility adore her and constantly argue over who is her best friend!
Despite her tragic past, Cocoa continue to have sparkle in her eye and a captivating smile! She knows just how to act in any situation and is a royal mensch! You can read more about her past below.
Although Cocoa is now well cared for and back on track, she is sadly behind bars. The good news is we are now taking applications for Cocoa. This girl has never been around cats. She can go to a home with children over 10 years old!

**UPDATE FROM TWENTY PAWS RESCUE **
URGENT UNFORTUNATE NEWS: COCOA NEEDS A HOME….again
as of 3/4/13, Cocoa is back in the care of Twenty Paws Rescue. After about a year and a half of living in her ‘furever’ home, Cocoa’s former adopter fell on hard times and became severely ill. As with all of our adopters, we kept in touch with Cocoa’s former adopter since her adoption with us almost 2 years ago. Through consistent conversations and steady flow of pictures, we were assured that Cocoa was doing well. Sadly, in his time of need, her adopter did not contact or reach out to us for assistance. Instead, unbeknownst to us, he decided to violate his adoption contract and dump Cocoa in a home our rescue would never have approved for a Twenty Paws Rescue dog. Furthermore, he moved her without notifying us, which is a direct disregard to our contract.
When we adopted Cocoa to this family, she was a healthy and robust 54 lbs. Now, she is morbidly obese at 74 lbs and at risk to roll down a hill at any moment. Although we are certain that she did not endure any physical abuse, we are sure now that she was NOT a beloved member of the family- something she always deserved. Working quickly and meticulously, the past 2 weeks flew by leaving an incredible cloud of dust in its wake. During this time, we were able to safely remove Cocoa from this unfit home and substitute family.
Now that she safely arrived back to our custody, we want to update everyone on her status and ask for your support. Tragically, Cocoa is NOT in a home. Our girl is in a boarding facility. This means that, once again, Cocoa sleeps behind steel doors and bars.
This boarding facility accepted our plea to take her in temporarily and help us all endure this ordeal. Today, she visited the vet and we will embark on a collective effort to bring her back to her ideal healthy weight.
Within a few weeks, we need to find Cocoa a new home. At this time, we will have her reevaluated to make sure there are no underlying or dormant healths or behavioral concerns.
Today we need help with prayers and love. We will update as we can.

Her original bio
Cocoa started her journey through life as a terrified homeless little girl running through the streets with nobody to care for her. The FIRST time she came to the shelter, a family adopted her. Within a week the family returned her stating that they concluded that they did not have time for her. The same family went back for Cocoa a SECOND time, only to return her again a week later. After living in a kill shelter for 6 months, her time was ticking away and she approached the dreaded marked euthanasia time. Twenty Paws and several of Cocoa’s dedicated fans searched tirelessly for a home for sweet Cocoa. Cocoa is truly an angel inside and out. Just one glance at her trusting caramel eyes are enough to make anyone’s heart melt. Twenty Paws and her new family love her more than any qualitative expression can fathom.
