CINDER ADOPTED 8/11/13 LIVING FOREVER FREE IN PA
While driving home on Sunday after spending the day with Cinder and his new family we had time to reflect on his journey starting with the first phone call we received about Cinder. It’s astonishing to remember the total number of volunteers that took part in saving Cinder’s life (and every dog we have). The initial phone call we received was an unexpected LATE NIGHT call on a Sunday from one of our vet clinics. The ACO officer for the town found this majestic angel left for dead on the side of the road, emaciated and with no hair. When the ACO picked up Cinder and saw his persuasive eyes begging for help and safety she stopped at the vet’s office, before going to the shelter where he would have been killed on Monday morning (defiantly not the normal routine of this ACO). Our team decided we could give him his life back and accepted him into our rescue. He was fostered by our experienced foster mom Lorrie who nursed him back to health (for months). Then we have Bonnie who helped capture the beauty of Cinder with her wonderful photography. Next up is Liberty Train, they reached out to their transport team for assistance to get him from TN to PA, they had about 13-14 drivers total to get him to his second destination in NJ. While we were organizing transport our TPR team reviewed the applications, and then another volunteer when out to do the second foster home visit. Finally, Cinder arrived to his new foster family closer to TPR home base. His foster family gave Cinder a solid foundation of love and structure to set him up for a bright future. From there our team reviewed adoption applications, picked his family and did his final home visit. As you can see it takes a massive army to save one dogs life. Thank You to everyone who helped us along the way because of your dedication to rescue we have another dog sleeping comfy with his family and new fur brother. Debbie, Chris, Linkin, and Cinder are ready for lifetime together of pure bliss.
Black and beautiful Cinder is a Black German Shepherd of about a year old and has made a jaw dropping transformation into the young man he is now. You may read the story of how he came to Twenty Paws below. This stoic gentle boy is a approximately 70 lbs. Although a bit cautious when meeting a new dog, Cinder comes out of his shell quickly and truly enjoys their company. As true gentleman, Cinder understands it takes his time getting to know others and develop a relationship with humans and canines alike. What a wonderful quality! Our boy loves to play and has an endearing bounce to his step. Also, Cinder walks well on a leash, is an affectionate hugger, and LOVES to eat! Cinder will effortlessly fit into any home. He would thrive as either your best pal or a member of a family with children and other dogs. He loves to stretch his legs and run. Therefore, he would love to have a fenced yard or be your running mate.
Cinder arrived at a vet office we work with. An animal control officer brought in an emaciated balding scared pup. The officer found him running in the street as a lost and confused stray. She did not want to take him to the shelter because, given his physical condition and breed/coloring, that would be an immediate death sentence. The vet staff called Twenty Paws and we immediately took him under our wing. After preliminary vetting, we saw that he had severe demodex mange, starved for love and sustenance, and, worst of all, completely hopeless.
Now, Cinder is truly a special boy with a perpetual smile on his face. He is ready for his forever home. The least he deserves is to find his special someone (or someones) to love and care for him forever. Please consider opening your heart and home to this lovely boy.
